Post Graduation Diploma in Maritime Logistics (2022-23)


The one year apprenticeship embedded Post graduate Diploma course in Maritime Logistics has been designed to prepare industry-ready students who can take up employment in contemporary maritime sector. The course will cater to the large-scale demand for qualified manpower arising out of major developments in the maritime sector in West Coast India like Vadhavan Mega port system.

The proposed skill embedded course consists of 6 months of conceptual training followed by 6 months of apprenticeship. Students can have apprenticeship in ports, Container Freight Stations and Inland container depots Freight Forwarding companies, Shipping companies, NVOCC and Customs Broking Companies. The students who are Commerce graduates will be given the required level of knowledge in the operational aspects of Maritime Logistics and supplemented with deeper learning related to marketing of shipping services and port services and commercial aspects of the Maritime Logistics. Under the commercial aspects’ focus will be on cost management and Market driven pricing of services. The initiatives in Maritime Logistics in digitization is included in the curriculum to familiarize the students with the contemporary practices.

The On-the-Job Training during Apprenticeship will be focusing to give hands-on experience on the actual processes in the port and shipping industry as detailed in the table below. Students are further expected to gain working knowledge of Port Community System (PCS), the digital platform for port-customer interface and also the ICEGATE, the digital platform for Customs-EXIM interface. With such familiarization, the students will have an advantage with the new initiatives of Government like the proposed National Logistic Platform which is on the anvil.
