Academic Career:
He has pursued B. Sc. (Tech) and M. Tech. from institutes ICT, Mumbai (University of Mumbai) and LIT-Nagpur (RTM Nagpur University), respectively with academic achievements such as Prof. J G Kane Prize, Gold Medal, UDCT Golden Jubilee Scholarship, UGC Fellowship etc. He holds Ph. D. under faculty of Engg. & Tech. of RTM Nagpur University.

Professional Career:
Dr. R D Kulkarni is working as Professor in Chemical Technology with 27 years of experience in Academia (teaching to M.Sc., B. Tech. and M. Tech.) and Research through Ph.D. guidance (13 Ph D awarded, 1Thesis submitted, 2 PDF, 07 working, 45 M Tech), PEER Reviewed publications (63: 46 International Journals and 18 national), Patents (5 Filed+2 granted) R & D Projects (16 DST WMT/SERB, AICTE, RUSA, DRDO-BARNS, UGC projects, Rs. 2.15 crore), Industrial consultancy (08 Projects, Rs. 1.0 crore) and Infrastructure Projects (DST -FIST, UGC SAP, MODROB, TEQIP-II Rs.14.9 crore). Before being deputed as Pro Vice-chancellor to University of Mumbai, During 2016-18, he worked as Professor and Head, Dept. of Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactant Tech. (DOOST), Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. Formerly he was holding the position of Professor, Head, Dept. of Paint Tech. and Director at UICT, North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. Prof Kulkarni is working in the fields of Renewable Polymers, Nanopigments & Green Functional Paints; Oleochemicals, Surfactants and biolubricants. His research work is based on combination of green approach and ultra-scientific tools to track the chemical and physical transformations brought out by surfactant mediated protocols. Received awards such as ‘Best Research Funding Award’ in 2017, ‘Best Teacher Award’ in 2014, Best Paper Award in 2006 by JOCCA Surface Coating International etc. More than 65 Invited Talk and 150 Conference Presentations. He is working/worked for various consultancy assignments for industries such as Godrej Industries, SUMWIN Global, Malaysia, Transpek-Silox Industry, Vadodara, Savita Oil Technologies, Mumbai, SYNTHITE, Kolenchery, Kerala, Kumar Metals, Thane etc

Activities related to Higher Education (National and International Level)
Widely travelled to Singapore, Germany, Thailand, Indonesia, Netherland France, Switzerland, Japan, Mauritius, Russia for Conference Presentations, professional interactions and visits to various Universities. Experience in handling of Quality issues, Assessment and accreditation related practices of NAAC; NBA and NIRF. Served as Director-IQAC, Served as Member-Senate, Academic Council of North Maharashtra University (2014-16). Visitor’s Nominee -Executive Council, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi (2016-19).
